On 3 February, all 11 of our Branch Supervisors travelled from their hometowns to George for a focused week of training and development. Representing branches across the Western Cape, from Ceres, Robertson, Bredasdorp, Swellendam, Riverdale, Mossel Bay, Oudtshoorn, Beaufort West, Plettenberg Bay, and George, the team came together with shared purpose: to learn, connect, and grow. After a long day of travel, everyone settled in and enjoyed a warm welcome and dinner at their accommodation.
The following day, the FMZ Head Office was filled with energy as we officially kicked off our inaugural annual Supervisor Training Seminar. Over the next three days, the focus was on sharpening skills, embracing new technology, strengthening leadership, and celebrating the dedication that drives our team forward.
Focused Training and Team Building
The first day began with focused sessions on leadership and day-to-day operational excellence, led by the FMZ Management team: Regional Managers Jacques du Preez and Riekie Coetzer, SME Manager Franklin Simmers, and General Manager Charles Smith.
FMZ welcomed SEESA, who delivered expert guidance on operational compliance. This ensures that every FMZ branch continues to uphold the highest industry standards, maintaining a secure, professional, and compliant environment for both our employees and valued customers.
The day concluded with an evening of team building and bonding – a reminder that although the FMZ branches may be spread across different towns, our people remain one united team working toward a shared goal.
On Thursday, the training continued with valuable contributions from leading industry partners, including Oppo, Vivo, Honor, and Huawei. Their teams provided hands-on training and shared insights into the latest innovations and upcoming devices that will soon be available in our stores, equipping our Supervisors with knowledge to better serve our customers.
Gala Glamour & Prize-Giving Celebrations
After two full days of learning and collaboration, it was time to dress up and celebrate. The much-anticipated Gala Evening gave everyone a chance to swap training gear for their favourite evening wear and simply enjoy being together.
Upon arrival, guests were welcomed with a gin tasting hosted by the team from Inverroche Distillery, which set the tone for a fun and festive evening. There was laughter, music, plenty of dancing and a real sense of pride in how far the team has come. It was special to see colleagues from different branches connecting, celebrating, and making memories together.
The highlight of the evening was the awards ceremony, where we recognised and honoured employees for their exceptional dedication and performance throughout the year.
