Job Description

An MTN Sales Representative is responsible for actively promoting and selling MTN mobile phone plans, data packages, and other telecommunications services to potential customers in a retail store setting, by building relationships, understanding customer needs, and closing sales to meet individual sales targets while maintaining excellent customer service standards. 

An MTN Sales Representative works to promote and sell MTN’s mobile phone plans, data packages, and other telecom services to potential customers. Their role involves:

  • Engaging with Customers: They actively interact with walk-in customers in a retail setting to understand their needs and offer tailored solutions.
  • Sales Target Achievement: Meeting individual sales goals by closing deals effectively and efficiently.
  • Customer Relationship Building: Establishing trust and maintaining long-term customer relationships to ensure satisfaction and repeat business.
  • Product Knowledge: Staying informed about MTN’s products and services to provide accurate information and assist customers in making informed decisions.
  • Excellent Customer Service: Providing a high standard of service, ensuring that customers have a positive experience and feel valued.
  • Sales Support: They may also be responsible for inventory management, handling customer queries, processing payments, and ensuring the store runs smoothly.

Key Responsibilities

  • Customer interaction: Engaging with customers in-store, assessing their needs, and presenting suitable MTN products and packages.
  • Sales generation: Actively approaching potential customers, generating leads, and converting them into paying MTN subscribers.
  • Product knowledge: Staying updated on all MTN products, features, pricing plans, promotions, and technical specifications to effectively answer customer queries. 
  • Sales presentations: Delivering clear and compelling product demonstrations to customers, highlighting the benefits of MTN services. 
  • Closing deals: Negotiating terms, handling objections, and successfully closing sales to achieve sales targets. 
  • Customer service: Providing excellent customer service throughout the sales process, including addressing concerns and resolving issues.
  • CRM management: Maintaining accurate customer information and sales records within the company’s CRM system. 
  • Upselling and cross-selling: Identifying opportunities to sell additional products and services to existing customers.
  • Compliance: Adhering to all company policies and procedures regarding sales practices and customer privacy. 

Qualifications and Experience

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong sales acumen and ability to close deals
  • In-depth knowledge of the telecommunications industry and MTN products
  • Customer service orientation and ability to build rapport with customers
  • Proficiency in using sales tools and CRM systems
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • High school diploma or equivalent, with prior retail sales experience preferred
