On the 28th of October 2023, the ‘Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer’ started at the George Golf Club in George. The day kicked off in style as the crowds gathered all dressed up in pink t-shirts and costumes. Of course, some of our very own FMZ Cellular team members participated in the ‘Big Cancer Walk’ and did not want to miss out on the fun and action this year!
The ‘Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer’ celebrates 25 years!
The ‘Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer’ is the biggest charity participation event in the Eastern Cape, held in both George, Gqeberha, and East London. The ‘Big Cancer Walk’ started back in 1998 and, this year, celebrated its 25th anniversary.
This charity event aims to support people who are currently in treatment for cancer, to commemorate loved ones lost due to the disease, and to stir up hope by celebrating cancer survivors. The event aims to support various organisations that work in aid of patients who are in need to receive treatment. The event also helps to start conversations around early detection and risk factors of cancer.
The ‘Algoa FM Big Walk for Cancer’ is presented by ISUZU Motors South Africa. Other sponsors include The Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, MTN, aQuellé, the Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture, and the Courier Guy.
